Join Our Sponsors!

14We love our sponsors!  Which is a way to say, our sponsors are the people we turn to for sound advice and supportive funding for our educational programs.  Most importantly, as the circle of sponsors grows, so does the message that grains are delicious, healthy, and local!  They can be grown almost anywhere in the U. S. – we’re working on that – they’re affordable, and they are a bountiful way to preserve rural landscapes and support family farms.  What’s more, as scientists work to develop sustainable varieties of wheat and other grains, home and professional bakers, maltsters, food entrepreneurs, and cooks and chefs are discovering the wonderful flavors that local grains, used whole or milled, impart to food and brews.

Will you join us?  Rebuilding ecologically-sound regional grain networks supports family farms and human, animal and environmental health, promotes the traditional skills of artisan bakers and wood-fired oven builders, preserves rural landscapes, and stimulates rural economies.

Maine Grain Alliance is a 501c3 non-profit organization and your donation is tax deductible. Our informational e-bulletins reach a direct mailing of 3000+, additionally reaching 10,000+ through sponsoring organizations, businesses, and blogs.

(PROGRAM A)
 THE KNEADING CONFERENCE:
An annual two-day conference at the end of July that celebrates grains, craft breads, malting, milling, wood-fired oven building and the many flavors of Maine’s rich food heritage.  Hosted at the Kennebec Valley Community College. Draws 250 attendees from New England, and across the U.S. and Canada.

(PROGRAM B) MAINE  ARTISAN BREAD FAIR: An annual, free one-day festival at the Skowhegan State Fairgrounds with vendors, live music, and fresh locally produced food and breads. Occurs the day following the Kneading Conference drawing 3,000+ people.

(PROGRAM C) THE GRAIN & BAKING EDUCATION PROGRAM: Year-round educational workshops for professional and home bakers, farmers, millers, maltsters, students, and community groups.

(PROGRAM D) THE GRAIN & RARE & HERITAGE SEED RESTORATION PROGRAM: Our seed restoration project aims to restore rare and heritage variety grains by turning handfuls of carefully kept seed into commercially viable quantities for farms. The project is building a supportive network of farmers that can learn from each other, share resources and share equipment. Additionally, we are engaging bakers in the development of marketable products using restored seed.

(PROGRAM E) TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANT PROGRAM: The Maine Grain Alliance awards grants of $250 – $1,000 to fund need-based technical assistance and equipment that will help grain-based business owners secure economic opportunities in Maine.
