Basics of Developing and Maintaining a Sourdough Culture Workshop

Jérôme Rigot will be offering “Basics of Developing and Maintaining a Sourdough Culture” workshop at the Miller’s Table at Maine Grains on Sunday, December 30th from 10:00-12:00 and is $30 per person.

This short course will cover the basics of starting a sourdough culture from scratch, maintaining a culture and will expand on the variety of ways a sourdough culture can be used. The nutritional, flavor and health benefits of sourdough will be discussed. Participants will take home some starter culture as well as some recipes for using it. This class targets beginners.but may go into more advanced topics based on participants’ interest.

Jérôme Rigot is an artisan baker in the Greater Bangor area. After immigrating to the US West coast in the early 80s, Jerome was not able to find good bread and started making bread for his household and himself. Completely self-taught, he is continuously learning about the very challenging art of making a healthy and tasty sourdough bread. He is now using exclusively stoneground flour from Maine Grains. He has been baking for 35+ years.
