The MGA Board of Directors held their June meeting at Aurora Mills and Farm, a 150-acre farm run by board member Sara Flewelling and her father, Matt Williams, in Linneus, Maine.
It was a beautiful day and an interesting drive through fields of grain and potatoes in Aroostook County — a change from the more typical hay and corn in central Maine.

Aurora Mills is a pioneer in the resurgence of the grain-growing economy in Maine. Matt started growing organic, food-grade wheat in 1998 and began the milling operation in 2001 to meet the needs of Borealis Breads’ Jim Amaral, who was seeking previously unavailable Maine-grown wheat.
Matt and Sara continue to innovate within the Maine grain industry by specializing in regenerative organic growing practices and diversifying and identifying alternative crops for grain rotations.
